The MEP Group’s Policy-Maker Roundtable is a confidential, off-the-record online gathering held once per year, designed exclusively for senior policy-makers from different countries and organisations. In line with the Group’s aim to strengthen the role of music within education and cultural policy, these roundtables provide a trusted space for open, honest, and critical exchange on the structural challenges and opportunities facing music education systems. Participants reflect on current pressures, governance questions, funding frameworks, and emerging developments across cultural, educational, youth, and urban policy domains, while also sharing inspiring initiatives and new approaches from their respective contexts. Unlike other MEP Group meetings—which focus more broadly on music education policy and bring together diverse actors from across the ecosystem—these roundtables are specifically designed for policy-makers themselves, enabling candid peer-to-peer dialogue among those directly responsible for shaping policy. By creating a secure environment for such exchange, the roundtables foster comparative insight, mutual learning, and strategic coordination at decision-making level.
The next Policy-Maker Roundtable is scheduled for September 2026.
