This Working Group is being set up in 2026 as a forum for dialogue between policy-makers and key actors in the digital music ecosystem, including music technology developers, AI innovators, software providers, and digital music streaming platforms, addressing the growing impact of technology on music education systems. In alignment with the Global Compact on Music Education, the WG will monitor developments, assess opportunities and risks, and formulate strategic recommendations to support equitable access, responsible innovation, and values-based policy-making in an increasingly digital learning environment; it will meet online.
The Working Group offers music education software developers and technology companies a unique opportunity to engage directly with the policy and funding environments that shape their markets. As part of the broader Music Education Policy Group, it provides structured access to policy-makers, public funders, and music education organisations across multiple countries, enabling members to gain early insight into regulatory developments, funding priorities, and system-level needs. This allows companies not only to anticipate change, but to help inform it, contributing to discussions on key issues such as AI, data governance, accessibility, and digital infrastructure in education.
At the same time, the Working Group is designed as a trusted, non-competitive space for strategic exchange, where companies can collaborate on shared challenges without disclosing sensitive information. Participation supports visibility and credibility as a responsible actor in a rapidly evolving field, while opening pathways to partnerships, pilot opportunities, and new markets. By engaging collectively at the level of policy, standards, and long-term system development, members can strengthen their positioning, align their innovation with real educational needs, and help shape a sustainable and equitable future for digital music education.
